Dr. Carlos Calderas
Dr. Carlos Calderas MD is a world-renowned interventional cardiologist at Policlínica Metropolitana in Caracas, Venezuela.
With over two decades of professional experience, Dr. Calderas focuses on conditions such as structural heart disease interventions and specializes in Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI), Left Atrial Appendage Closure, and Percutaneous Paravalvular Leak Closure, among other advanced interventions.
He has conducted several FIH studies including coronary and structural heart devices. He is a contributor to CITIC, TCT, and other interventional cardiology congresses. He is the coordinator of the interventional cardiology session of the Venezuelan Society of Cardiology. Dr. Calderas has an impressive academic portfolio, having been published in many journals and publications.
Dr. Flavio Ribichini
Professor Ribichini serves as the Director of the School of Cardiovascular Medicine and Post-Graduate Fellowship at the University of Verona.
He is also the Chairman of the Cardiothoracic Department of the University Hospitals, one of the largest and most prestigious medical Institutions in Italy.
Throughout his career, Prof. Ribichini has exhibited active engagement within multiple international cardiology groups such as the Editorial Board of the European Heart Journal, the Scientific Board of PCR, the Guidelines task force of the European Society of Cardiology, and the Board of Directors of the EAPCI (European Association of Percutaneous Cardiac Interventions.
His passion for research and education is evident through his Research Fellow appointments at several European and US Institutions, such as Stanford University and the OLVZ Cardiovascular Centre in Aalst, Belgium. In over 30 years of clinical work as an interventional cardiologist and research in the field, Prof. Ribichini’s scholarly impact shines through with a substantial portfolio of over 400 full publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals indexed in PubMed, encompassing clinical and basic cardiovascular research.
Dr. Ramiro Trillo
Dr. Ramiro Trillo heads the Interventional Cardiology Department at the University Hospital in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
With an impressive track record spanning over 25 years, Dr. Trillo is a seasoned Interventional Cardiologist renowned for his expertise in various domains. His primary focus lies in Structural Heart Disease Interventions, encompassing intricate procedures such as Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation, Edge-to-Edge Mitral and Tricuspid Valve Repair, Percutaneous Tricuspid Annuloplasty, Left Atrial Appendage Closure, and Percutaneous Paravalvular Leak Closure, among other advanced interventions.
Dr. Trillo’s leadership and influence extend beyond his practice. He has previously held the position of Past-President within the Interventional Cardiology Association of the Spanish Society of Cardiology. Moreover, he served as the Past Co-Chair of the Education and Training Committee for the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiac Interventions within the European Society of Cardiology. Notably, his expertise is acknowledged by his role as a Proctor and Trainer for Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation Procedures, underscoring his commitment to imparting knowledge and advancing the field.
Dr. Maurizio Taramasso
Professor Maurizio Taramasso is a cardiac surgeon and structural interventionalist at HerzZentrum Hirslanden Zürich, Klinik Hirslanden, Zurich, Switzerland. He completed his surgical training at the San Raffaele University Hospital in Milan, Italy, in 2014.
His expertise extends to specific cross-training in interventional cardiology and heart valve transcatheter therapies, particularly in mitral and aortic procedures, at the same institution.
In 2012, he further honed his skills through a Fellowship in Aortic Surgery at the Hannover Medical School. Professor Taramasso’s primary focus lies in both surgical and catheter treatments of valvular heart disease, including transfemoral and transapical TAVI, as well as MitraClip interventions for heart failure. His contributions to the field are evident in numerous publications on these topics, and he has been recognized with the prestigious “Thomas J. Linnemeier Spirit of Interventional Cardiology Young Investigator Award” in Denver, Colorado, USA. This accolade is bestowed annually during the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) conference, the foremost gathering in the world for interventional cardiology.
Dr. Carla Agiatello
Dr. Agatiello obtained her degree from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Buenos Aires in 1998 and in 2002 she completed her specialization and training in Cardiology at the Hospital Israelita de Buenos Aires. Subsequently, she completed a specialization in Interventional Cardiology at the University of Rouen and at the University of Créteil & Necker (Paris, France), where she obtained her diploma in 2005.
She was fellowship trained in Interventional Cardiology and focused on heart valve disease at the Charles Nicole Hospital (Rouen, France) over a period of 3 years.
Immediately afterward, Dr. Agatiello returned to Argentina to work with Liliana Grinfeld MD, PhD in the Department of Interventional Cardiology at the Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires.
She is currently Head of the Department of Interventional Cardiology at the Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires and performs interventional cardiology procedures daily focused on heart valve replacement.
In turn, she is director of the MIL Group (Women Interventional Cardiologists in Latin America) and coordinates the activities of Women as an NGO in Latin America on behalf of SOLACI and CACI. Actually, Dr. Agatiello is the President of the scientific SOLACI-CACI2024 Meeting to be held in Buenos Aires this year. She has vast experience as a researcher, having published more than 100 scientific articles in indexed and non-indexed journals.
